Why You Need a Real Estate Consultant
You are about to embark upon a very exciting time! Looking for a new home is
lots of fun. So why is moving often listed with death and divorce as the three most stressful experiences in life?
My 15 years in the business, plus frequent moves as a child with a father in the
U.S. Army and as an adult with my own family, has taught me some important lessons. I learned that there are two
very different kinds of needs that people have when they are moving. First, there are the transactional needs, like
finding the home that is perfect for you, finding a seller who is realistic, negotiating the price, completing the
contract, handling the inspections, arranging the loan, attending settlement, and making the move. That is what a
real estate agent can do for you. I try to be more than that. I serve as your real estate consultant. As such, I
promise that:
You can rely on my twenty plus years as a lawyer to give you expert counsel
and advice with your best interests in mind.
I will listen very carefully to what you are telling me (and sometimes what you
are not saying) to find the best house on the market that meets your needs and wants.
I will use the most up to date technology to monitor the inventory on a daily
basis and notify you as soon possible by fax, phone or e-mail when your dream home comes available.
I will use my experience negotiating international agreements on behalf of the
United States Government to negotiate effectively for you to get the lowest possible price and best terms for your
new home.
I will protect your interests throughout the transaction and treat your money like
it was my own, shaving every possible expense.
But there also are emotional needs involved in moving, and this is where the
biggest stress comes in. Many agents can handle the transactional needs for you, but if your emotional needs are
unfulfilled, you’ll be frustrated and may not act in your own best interests.
A real estate consultant will be competent with paperwork and numbers, but
more important, your real estate consultant will guide, direct, and counsel you through the emotional ups and
downs of moving.
My experiences as a realtor, an army brat and a mother of two make me
particularly sensitive to the stress of moving. So I promise to:
-
Listen to you and be there for you from the beginning through to settlement.
-
Be your level-headed sounding board or relief valve when the stress is overwhelming!
-
Never push you to make a decision to buy!
-
Counsel you through the feelings of “buyer’s remorse.”
-
Alert you ahead of time to every possibility so you feel more in control.
-
Contact you daily during the last ten days of the transaction to serve your needs.
-
Provide guidance and help with movers, change address, utilities, cleaning, etc.
-
Attend settlement and celebrate the closing with you.
-
Bring you a pizza (or lots of chocolate) on moving day!
-
Continue to give you information of value after closing … for life!
