The market is open year-round and features table seating, music, local Maryland winery and farm brewery tastings, kids club activities, chef demos, and much more.

The Farm Women’s Co-op Market in at 7155 Wisconsin Ave, about 4 blocks north of Bradley Blvd. It has hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays all year indoors, and also on Sundays on “outdoor days.”   Since this whole area is slated for redevelopment, you should certainly get there soon!

Glen Echo Park
Just a short drive up MacArthur Blvd from Sumner Village is Glen Echo Park.  up. Originally aCarousel Chautauqua retreat, then an amusement park, this National Park is now host to a variety of arts, environmental and history programs. Take a class in pottery, painting, photography, or glass art. Enjoy a puppet show or theater performance with your family and ride the historic carousel. Dance in our exquisite ballroom or refine your steps in one of our dance classes. Learn more about the environment while you play, or take a ranger-guided historic tour.

If you want a little history, you might check out Clara Barton’s home at 5801 Oxford Road in Glen Echo.  The Clara Barton National Historic Site, which includes the Clara Barton House, was established in 1974 to interpret the life of Clara Barton, an American pioneer teacher, nurse, and humanitarian who was the founder of the American Red Cross.

Sumner VillageThe United States National Historic Site protects 9 acres (0.04 km2) of land at her Glen Echo home including the 38-room former residence of Barton. The site is managed by the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The first national historic site dedicated to the accomplishments of a woman, it preserves the early history of the American Red Cross and the last home of its founder. Clara Barton spent the last 15 years of her life in her Glen Echo home (1897-1912), and it served as an early headquarters of the American Red Cross as well.[2]

The National Park Service has restored eleven rooms, including the Red Cross offices, parlors and Clara Barton’s bedroom. Visitors to Clara Barton National Historic Site can gain a sense of how Barton lived and worked surrounded by all that went into her life’s work. Visitors to the site are led through the three levels on a guided tour emphasizing Barton’s use of her unusual home.

Irish Inn at Glen Echo

If you are hungry after you tour the Clara Barton House (once it reopens) you should definitely eat lunch at the Irish Inn at Glen Echo.  Between the great music in the evening, the Guiness (and other ales, beers and stouts) and Irish food like corned beef, salmon and bangers and mash, you will love this place.  In the warm weather you can eat outside on the covered porch! In the wintertime, it is a cozy place to connect with friends.

Sibley Hospital is about a mile away and the David Taylor Naval Center is less than five miles up MacArthur Boulevard.

You might wonder what all this is going to cost.

The condo fee for a three bedroom two and a half bath unit with 1823 square feet was approximately $1338 a month in the fall of 2021.    A 1367 square foot two bedroom two bath unit had a condo fee of $919 in February 2022.  A 1524 square foot unit with two bedrooms and two baths had a condo fee of $1155 at the end of 2021.
